  • Sodium Chloride (Table Salt) Formation: Elements & Reaction
    Sodium chloride (NaCl), also known as table salt, is formed by the reaction of two elements:

    * Sodium (Na): A soft, silvery-white metal.

    * Chlorine (Cl): A greenish-yellow gas.

    This reaction is a classic example of an ionic bond where sodium loses an electron to chlorine, forming positively charged sodium ions (Na+) and negatively charged chloride ions (Cl-). These oppositely charged ions are then attracted to each other, forming the stable compound sodium chloride.
