  • Acid-Base Reactions: Understanding Salt and Water Formation
When you react an acid and an alkali (which is a type of base), you produce salt and water.

    Here's the general reaction:

    Acid + Alkali → Salt + Water

    For example:

    * Hydrochloric acid (HCl) + Sodium hydroxide (NaOH) → Sodium chloride (NaCl) + Water (H₂O)

This is called a neutralization reaction because the acid and alkali cancel each other out, resulting in a neutral solution (or close to neutral).
