  • Phosphorus Properties: Solid, Allotropes, and Reactivity
    Phosphorus is neither a liquid nor a gas at room temperature. It's a solid!

    However, phosphorus exists in different forms, called allotropes, with varying properties. The most common form is white phosphorus, which is a waxy, highly reactive solid that ignites spontaneously in air.

    Here are some of the different forms of phosphorus:

    * White phosphorus (P₄): A highly reactive, flammable solid.

    * Red phosphorus (P): A less reactive, non-flammable solid.

    * Black phosphorus (P): A stable, semiconducting solid.
