  • Hydrogen Peroxide Solutions: Understanding Solvent and Solute
Here's how to determine the solvent and solute in a hydrogen peroxide solution:

    * Solvent: The solvent is the substance that dissolves the other substance. In most hydrogen peroxide solutions, the solvent is water (H₂O).

    * Solute: The solute is the substance that gets dissolved. In hydrogen peroxide solutions, the solute is hydrogen peroxide (H₂O₂) itself.

    Why is water the solvent?

Hydrogen peroxide is typically sold as a diluted solution, meaning it's mixed with water. Water is the more abundant component, making it the solvent.

Important Note: There are situations where hydrogen peroxide could be the solvent. If a small amount of water were dissolved in a large amount of hydrogen peroxide, then hydrogen peroxide would act as the solvent. However, this is less common in everyday scenarios.
