  • Copper: Metal Properties and Why It's Not a Metalloid
    Copper is a metal.

    Here's why:

    * Conductivity: Copper is an excellent conductor of heat and electricity. This is a characteristic of metals.

    * Malleability and Ductility: Copper can be easily hammered into sheets (malleable) and drawn into wires (ductile), again typical of metals.

    * Lustrous: Copper has a shiny, metallic appearance.

    * Solid at Room Temperature: Copper is solid at room temperature, like most metals.

Metalloids have properties of both metals and nonmetals. Copper exhibits primarily metallic properties.
