  • Hydrogen Ion Composition: Understanding the Proton-Only Structure
A hydrogen ion is made of one proton.

    Here's why:

    * Normal hydrogen atom: A neutral hydrogen atom has one proton and one electron.

    * Hydrogen ion formation: When a hydrogen atom loses its electron, it becomes a positively charged ion (a cation). Since the electron is gone, only the proton remains.
