  • Deposition: Understanding the Phase Change from Gas to Solid
The process where a gas goes directly to a solid state, bypassing the liquid phase, is called deposition.

Here are some examples of deposition:

    * Frost formation: Water vapor in the air deposits directly onto surfaces as ice crystals.

    * Snow formation: Water vapor in the atmosphere deposits directly as snow crystals.

    * Formation of dry ice: Carbon dioxide gas is cooled and compressed, causing it to directly solidify.

Deposition is the opposite of sublimation, which is when a solid goes directly to a gas.
