  • Table Salt (NaCl): Element Properties and Compound Classification
    Table salt is not a metal, nonmetal, or metalloid. It is a compound made from two elements:

    * Sodium (Na) - A metal

    * Chlorine (Cl) - A nonmetal

    The combination of these two elements creates sodium chloride (NaCl), which is the chemical name for table salt.

    It's important to distinguish between elements and compounds. While table salt is made from elements that fall into categories on the periodic table, table salt itself does not exist on the periodic table.
