    * Based on these results, he proposed the nuclear model of the atom: a dense, positively charged nucleus at the center, surrounded by negatively charged electrons orbiting in a mostly empty space.     2. Research on Radioactivity:

    * Rutherford's early work focused on studying the nature of radioactivity, first discovered by Henri Becquerel.

    * He identified three types of radiation: alpha, beta, and gamma, and studied their properties and how they interact with matter.
