  • States of Matter: Liquids to Solids - Examples & Explanations
Many items change from liquid to solid! Here are some examples:

Water: This is the most common example. When water cools down to 0°C (32°F), it freezes and becomes ice.

Lava: Molten rock, also known as lava, solidifies as it cools, forming igneous rocks.

Metal: Metals like iron and gold are melted for processing, but they solidify back into their solid form when they cool down.

Honey: While honey is a viscous liquid, it can solidify if kept at a cool temperature.

Wax: Candle wax melts when heated but solidifies as it cools.

Gelatin: Gelatin, used in desserts and other foods, transitions between liquid and solid states depending on temperature.

Oil: Some types of oil solidify at very low temperatures, like vegetable oil.

Chocolate: Chocolate is a great example, transitioning from liquid to solid as it cools down.

Butter: Butter is another example that solidifies when refrigerated.

There are countless other items that change from liquid to solid. The process is known as solidification or freezing.
