  • Selenium Oxide: Properties, Uses & Toxicity of Selenium Dioxide & Trioxide
Selenium and oxygen combined together make selenium oxides. There are two main types:

    * Selenium dioxide (SeO₂) is a white solid that is used in the production of glass, ceramics, and pigments. It's also used as a catalyst in some chemical reactions.

    * Selenium trioxide (SeO₃) is a colorless liquid that is a strong oxidizing agent. It's used in the production of sulfuric acid.

Both selenium oxides are toxic and should be handled with care.
