  • Oxygen Molecules: Do They Contain Carbon?
No, a molecule of oxygen cannot have a carbon atom in it.

    Here's why:

    * Oxygen molecule (O2): This is the most common form of oxygen we find in the air. It consists of two oxygen atoms bonded together.

    * Carbon dioxide (CO2): This molecule contains one carbon atom and two oxygen atoms. It is a different molecule than oxygen.

Therefore, any molecule containing a carbon atom is not simply oxygen.
