  • Argon State of Matter: Gas Properties and Why
Argon is a gas at room temperature and pressure.

    Here's why:

    * Noble gas: Argon is a noble gas, meaning it exists as a single atom and is very unreactive.

    * Weak interatomic forces: The atoms in argon have very weak interatomic forces (van der Waals forces) holding them together.

    * Low boiling point: Because of the weak forces, argon has a very low boiling point (-185.8 °C or -302.4 °F). This means it turns into a gas at a relatively low temperature.

To get argon to become a liquid or solid, you would need to cool it down significantly.
