  • Is Salt a Solution? Understanding Homogeneous Mixtures
    Salt is a homogeneous mixture.

    Here's why:

    * Homogeneous: The salt crystals are evenly distributed throughout the water, meaning the mixture has a uniform composition and appearance.

    * Mixture: Salt (NaCl) and water (H₂O) are distinct substances that are physically combined, not chemically bonded.

While it might seem like salt dissolves completely in water, it actually forms ions (charged particles) that are surrounded by water molecules. These ions are still present in the solution, just in a different form.
