  • Chemical Bonding: Which Element Doesn't Form Molecules?
The element that does not bond to form molecules is neon. Here's why:

    * Oxygen (O2): Oxygen forms a diatomic molecule (O2) through a double covalent bond.

    * Chlorine (Cl2): Chlorine also forms a diatomic molecule (Cl2) through a single covalent bond.

    * Sulfur (S8): Sulfur forms a ring-shaped molecule (S8) with eight sulfur atoms connected by single covalent bonds.

    * Neon (Ne): Neon is a noble gas. Noble gases have a full outer shell of electrons, making them very stable and unreactive. They don't readily form bonds with other elements.
