  • Understanding the Atoms in Carbon Dioxide (CO2)
CO2, or carbon dioxide, contains two types of atoms:

    * Carbon (C): This is the central atom in the molecule.

    * Oxygen (O): There are two oxygen atoms bonded to the carbon atom.

While CO2 is a neutral molecule, it's important to note that the carbon atom is slightly positive and each oxygen atom is slightly negative due to differences in electronegativity. This creates a polar molecule, even though the overall charge is neutral.
