  • Ethanol Flame Color: Understanding Combustion & Flame Appearance
The color of an ethanol flame during combustion is pale blue.

This is because ethanol burns relatively cleanly, producing mostly carbon dioxide and water vapor. These products emit a blue light as they are heated during the combustion process.

However, the flame can sometimes appear more yellow or orange if there is incomplete combustion. This happens when there isn't enough oxygen present, leading to the formation of soot particles, which emit a yellow/orange light.
