  • Calcium Chloride in Water: Homogeneous or Heterogeneous?
Water with calcium chloride is a homogeneous mixture. Here's why:

    * Homogeneous mixture: A mixture where the components are evenly distributed throughout, and the mixture has a uniform composition.

    * Heterogeneous mixture: A mixture where the components are not evenly distributed, and the mixture has a non-uniform composition.

When calcium chloride (CaCl₂) dissolves in water (H₂O), it dissociates into its ions (Ca²⁺ and 2Cl⁻). These ions become uniformly distributed throughout the water solution. You can't visually distinguish the calcium chloride from the water; it appears as a clear, colorless solution.

Therefore, the mixture of water and dissolved calcium chloride is a homogeneous mixture.
