  • Sulfur: Element or Mixture? Understanding Purity
Sulfur is not a mixture at all. It's a pure element.

    Here's why:

    * Elements are the simplest forms of matter that cannot be broken down further by chemical means. Sulfur is found on the periodic table as a single element.

    * Mixtures involve two or more substances that are physically combined but not chemically bonded. You can separate the components of a mixture through physical processes like filtration or evaporation.

    * Heterogeneous mixtures have uneven composition, meaning the components are not evenly distributed.

    * Homogeneous mixtures have uniform composition, meaning the components are evenly distributed.

Since sulfur is a single element, it doesn't have any components to be unevenly or evenly distributed.
