  • Oxygen Production: Where Does It Really Come From?
Oxygen gas production doesn't happen within you. You don't produce oxygen gas.

    Here's why:

    * You breathe in oxygen: We inhale oxygen from the air and use it in our cells for energy production.

    * You exhale carbon dioxide: As a byproduct of energy production, we exhale carbon dioxide, a gas that our bodies don't need.

Oxygen production happens in plants and some bacteria through photosynthesis. This process uses sunlight, water, and carbon dioxide to produce glucose (sugar) and oxygen.

So, while we rely on oxygen to survive, we don't create it ourselves. We depend on the natural world for this essential gas.
