  • What is Fire? Understanding the Science Behind Flames
Fire is not a solid, liquid, or gas. It's a chemical reaction that produces light and heat. Here's why:

    * Solids have a definite shape and volume.

    * Liquids have a definite volume but take the shape of their container.

    * Gases have no definite shape or volume and expand to fill their container.

Fire involves a rapid reaction between a fuel source and an oxidant, usually oxygen. This reaction releases energy in the form of heat and light, which we perceive as flames. The flames themselves are not a distinct substance, but rather a visible manifestation of the ongoing chemical reaction.

So, while we often talk about fire as if it were a thing, it's actually a process!
