  • Sand and Salt Mixture: Homogeneous or Heterogeneous? | Science Explained
A mixture of sand and salt is heterogeneous. Here's why:

    * Heterogeneous mixtures have components that are not evenly distributed throughout. You can usually see the different parts of the mixture.

    * Homogeneous mixtures have components that are evenly distributed, making the mixture appear uniform throughout.

In the case of sand and salt:

    * Sand is a granular material with varying sizes and colors.

    * Salt is a crystalline solid.

When you mix sand and salt, you can easily distinguish the individual grains of sand from the salt crystals. This uneven distribution makes it a heterogeneous mixture.
