    The main man-made gases that contribute to acid rain are:

    * Sulfur dioxide (SO2): This is released primarily from burning fossil fuels, especially coal, for electricity generation and industrial processes.

    * Nitrogen oxides (NOx): These are produced from burning fossil fuels in vehicles, power plants, and industrial processes.

    When these gases are released into the atmosphere, they react with water, oxygen, and other substances to form sulfuric acid and nitric acid. These acids then fall to the earth as acid rain, snow, fog, or dry particles.
