  • Are Coins a Mixture? Understanding Heterogeneous Mixtures
A jar of coins is a heterogeneous mixture. Here's why:

    * Heterogeneous mixtures are mixtures where the components are not evenly distributed and can be easily distinguished.

    * In a jar of coins, you can clearly see the different types of coins (pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, etc.). They are not uniformly mixed, and you can easily separate them based on their physical characteristics.

Homogeneous mixtures, on the other hand, have components that are evenly distributed and indistinguishable. Examples include salt water or air.
