  • Respiration's Byproducts: Beyond Carbon Dioxide - Understanding ATP
    The primary products of respiration are carbon dioxide (CO2) and water (H2O). However, another important product is energy in the form of ATP (adenosine triphosphate).

    While CO2 is released as a waste product, ATP is essential for cellular processes, providing the energy needed for:

    * Muscle contraction

    * Active transport

    * Protein synthesis

    * Cell division

    Therefore, while not as obvious as CO2, ATP is a crucial product of respiration.
