  • Why Is My Refrigerator Ice Cloudy? Understanding White Ice
Refrigerators don't actually make "white ice". The ice you're seeing is clear ice, but it might appear white due to a few reasons:

    * Air bubbles: As water freezes, it expands and traps air bubbles inside the ice. These air bubbles scatter light, making the ice appear cloudy or white.

    * Rapid freezing: If water freezes quickly, the ice crystals don't have time to arrange themselves properly. This results in a more porous structure with more air bubbles, again causing the ice to appear white.

    * Impurities in the water: Minerals and other impurities in the water can also scatter light and make the ice appear cloudy or white.

    How to make clear ice:

    * Freeze water slowly: This gives the water time to freeze slowly and form larger, more organized crystals.

    * Use filtered water: Impurities in the water can be removed using a filter, which will result in clearer ice.

    * Avoid excessive agitation: Moving the water while it's freezing can trap more air bubbles.

It's worth noting that even if you use all these techniques, you might still get some white ice due to the natural properties of water and the freezing process.
