  • Creating Cadmium Yellow: Understanding Pigment and Color Mixing
Cadmium yellow is a pigment, not a mixture. It's created by heating cadmium sulfide (CdS) with other chemicals to produce different shades of yellow.

You cannot mix other pigments to achieve the same exact color as cadmium yellow.

If you're looking for similar colors, you might be able to achieve a close approximation by mixing:

    * Yellow ochre and cadmium red for a more earthy yellow.

    * Lemon yellow and cadmium orange for a brighter, more vibrant yellow.

However, these mixtures will never have the same chemical composition or unique properties of cadmium yellow.
