  • Elements in Group 14: Properties and Characteristics
There are no metals in family 14 of the periodic table, also known as the carbon group.

    Here's why:

    * Family 14 elements: Carbon (C), Silicon (Si), Germanium (Ge), Tin (Sn), Lead (Pb), and Flerovium (Fl).

    * Metallic character: The trend in family 14 is that metallic character increases down the group.

    * Carbon and Silicon are nonmetals.

    * Germanium is a metalloid, meaning it has properties of both metals and nonmetals.

    * Tin and Lead are metals.

    * Flerovium is a synthetic element with a very short half-life and its properties are not fully characterized.

Therefore, only Tin (Sn) and Lead (Pb) are metals in family 14.
