    The IUPAC name for H₂CO₃ is carbonic acid.

    Here's why:

    * Diprotic means it can donate two hydrogen ions (H⁺).

    While sometimes referred to as hydrogen carbonate, that name is more commonly associated with the bicarbonate ion (HCO₃⁻).
