  • Deposition: Understanding the Gas-to-Solid Process
The process of a gas directly changing into a solid is called deposition. It is the opposite of sublimation, where a solid changes directly into a gas.

Here are some examples of deposition:

    * Frost forming on a window: Water vapor in the air directly freezes onto the cold surface of the window.

    * Snow forming in clouds: Water vapor in the air directly freezes into ice crystals.

    * Dry ice sublimating: Solid carbon dioxide (dry ice) directly changes into gaseous carbon dioxide.
