  • Atomic Charge: Understanding Protons, Electrons, and Neutral Atoms
    An atom with the same number of protons and electrons has a charge of zero.

    Here's why:

    * Protons have a positive (+) charge.

    * Electrons have a negative (-) charge.

    When the number of protons and electrons are equal, the positive and negative charges cancel each other out, resulting in a neutral atom.
