  • J.J. Thomson: The Father of the Plum Pudding Atomic Model
The first model of an atom with electrons on the outside was developed by J.J. Thomson in 1897.

His model, often called the plum pudding model, depicted the atom as a sphere of positive charge with negatively charged electrons embedded in it, much like plums in a pudding.

While not entirely accurate, Thomson's model was a significant step forward from previous models, as it introduced the idea of subatomic particles and their arrangement within the atom.
