  • Pop: Is Soda a Mixture or Solution? Understanding Heterogeneous Mixtures
Pop (soda) is a heterogeneous mixture. Here's why:

    * Heterogeneous mixture: A mixture where the components are not evenly distributed throughout. You can see the different parts of the mixture.

    * Solution: A homogeneous mixture where the components are evenly distributed at a molecular level. You can't see the different parts of the mixture.

Why pop is a heterogeneous mixture:

    * Gas bubbles: The carbon dioxide gas that gives pop its fizz is not evenly distributed throughout the liquid. You can see the bubbles rising.

    * Solid particles: Pop often contains solid particles like sugar or fruit pulp, which are not dissolved into the liquid.

    * Different layers: You can sometimes see different layers in pop, such as the syrup and the carbonated water.

Therefore, pop is a heterogeneous mixture because its components are not uniformly distributed.
