  • Observable Signs of Chemical Reactions: Color Change & Precipitation
Here are three things you might see if a chemical reaction takes place:

    1. Color Change: A chemical reaction can cause a change in the color of the substances involved. For example, if you mix a clear solution of copper sulfate with a clear solution of sodium hydroxide, a blue precipitate will form.

    2. Formation of a Precipitate: A precipitate is a solid that forms from a solution during a chemical reaction. It can be seen as a cloudy or powdery substance settling at the bottom of the container.

    3. Production of Gas Bubbles: A chemical reaction can release a gas, which you'll see as bubbles forming in the solution or escaping into the air. For instance, when baking soda (sodium bicarbonate) reacts with vinegar (acetic acid), carbon dioxide gas is produced, causing the solution to fizz.
