  • Decomposition of Ammonium Carbonate: Products & Reaction
When ammonium carbonate (NH₄)₂CO₃ is heated, it decomposes into three products:

    * Ammonia (NH₃): A colorless gas with a pungent odor.

    * Carbon Dioxide (CO₂): A colorless and odorless gas.

    * Water (H₂O): A colorless liquid.

The reaction can be represented by the following equation:

    (NH₄)₂CO₃ (s) → 2NH₃ (g) + CO₂ (g) + H₂O (g)

This reaction is an example of a thermal decomposition reaction, where a compound breaks down into simpler substances due to heat.
