  • Alloys: What Are They and Common Examples?
A metal made of 2 or more solids is called an alloy.

    Here are some examples:

    * Brass: An alloy of copper and zinc.

    * Bronze: An alloy of copper and tin.

    * Steel: An alloy of iron and carbon.

    * Stainless Steel: An alloy of iron, chromium, and nickel.

    * Pewter: An alloy of tin, lead, antimony, and copper.

The properties of alloys often differ significantly from the pure metals they are made of. For example, steel is much stronger than iron, and brass is more resistant to corrosion than either copper or zinc alone.
