  • Understanding Dissolved Load in Water: Definition & Explanation
When material is dissolved and carried in water, it's called dissolved load.

    Here's why:

    * Dissolved: The material is broken down into individual molecules and dispersed throughout the water. You can't see it with the naked eye.

    * Load: This refers to the material being transported by the water.

Other ways to describe the material carried in water include:

    * Solute: The dissolved material itself.

    * Solution: The mixture of water and the dissolved material.

    * Dissolved solids: This specifically refers to the solid material dissolved in water.

It's important to note that water can also carry material that isn't dissolved, such as sand or gravel. This is called suspended load.
