  • Sulfur's Luster: Why Polished Sulfur Isn't Shiny
Sulfur is not shiny when polished. In fact, it's quite the opposite! Here's why:

    * Non-metallic: Sulfur is a non-metal, and non-metals generally don't have the same metallic luster as metals like gold or silver.

    * Crystalline Structure: Sulfur forms crystals, but these crystals are often brittle and have a dull, yellow appearance.

    * Reactivity: Sulfur is a reactive element. When exposed to air, it can oxidize and form a dull, powdery surface.

While polishing sulfur can smooth its surface, it won't make it shiny. You might be able to achieve a slightly more polished look, but it will still retain its characteristic yellow, non-metallic appearance.
