  • Metalloids and Metallic Character: Understanding Group 14
The group number that contains metalloids and is most metallic is Group 14 (IVA).

    Here's why:

    * Metalloids: Group 14 contains the metalloids silicon (Si) and germanium (Ge). Metalloids have properties between metals and nonmetals.

    * Metallic Character: As you move down a group in the periodic table, metallic character generally increases. This means the elements at the bottom of the group exhibit more metallic properties.

    * Group 14 Trends: While the top elements in Group 14 are nonmetals (carbon and silicon), tin (Sn) and lead (Pb) at the bottom are metals. This makes Group 14 the group with metalloids and a high degree of metallic character in its lower members.

Therefore, Group 14 is the group with the metalloids and the most metallic character among those groups containing metalloids.
