  • Whipped Cream: Mixture or Compound? Understanding Its Composition
Whipped cream is a mixture. Here's why:

    * Elements are pure substances that cannot be broken down further (like oxygen, gold, or carbon).

    * Compounds are formed when two or more elements chemically combine (like water, which is made of hydrogen and oxygen).

    * Mixtures are combinations of substances that are not chemically bonded. They can be separated by physical means.

Whipped cream is made by whipping cream (fat, water, and other components) with air. The air becomes trapped in the cream, creating its fluffy texture. Since the components are not chemically bonded, they can be separated. You can easily separate the cream and air by letting the whipped cream sit and letting the air escape.
