  • Photosynthesis: Does It Release Carbon Dioxide?
    That statement is incorrect.

    Here's why:

    * Photosynthesis takes in carbon dioxide: Plants use carbon dioxide (CO2) along with water (H2O) and sunlight to produce glucose (sugar) and oxygen (O2).

    * Oxygen is given off during photosynthesis: The oxygen released as a byproduct of photosynthesis is what we breathe.

In short, photosynthesis uses carbon dioxide, not releases it.
