  • Hard Water Minerals: Understanding Calcium & Magnesium
The minerals found in hard water that are not typically found in soft water are calcium and magnesium.

    Here's why:

    * Hard water is characterized by high concentrations of dissolved calcium and magnesium ions. These minerals enter the water supply from rocks and soil.

    * Soft water has very low concentrations of these minerals. It is usually created by removing calcium and magnesium through processes like ion exchange.

While other minerals can be present in both hard and soft water, the defining difference is the presence of calcium and magnesium in significant amounts in hard water.
