  • Understanding Dew Point: The Temperature of Air Saturation
The temperature at which air becomes saturated is called the dew point.

    Here's why:

    * Saturation: Air becomes saturated when it holds the maximum amount of water vapor it can at a given temperature and pressure.

    * Dew Point: The dew point is the temperature to which air must be cooled to become saturated with water vapor. At this point, condensation starts to occur, forming dew, fog, or clouds.

In simpler terms: The dew point tells you how much moisture is actually in the air, regardless of the air temperature. The closer the dew point is to the actual air temperature, the more humid it feels.
