  • Boosting Reaction Rates: 2 Strategies to Increase Product Formation
Here are two things that can increase the rate of a reaction, even if it's already at its maximum:

    1. Increase the Concentration of Reactants: Even if the reaction is at its maximum rate, increasing the concentration of reactants will provide more opportunities for collisions and successful reactions to occur. This is because there will be more reactant molecules present, making it more likely for them to interact and form products.

    2. Add a Catalyst: A catalyst speeds up a reaction without being consumed in the process. It does this by providing an alternative reaction pathway with a lower activation energy. Even if a reaction is already at its maximum rate due to other factors (like high reactant concentration), a catalyst can often further increase the rate by allowing more molecules to overcome the activation energy barrier more quickly.
