  • Gas Giants: Composition & What They're Really Made Of
It's not quite accurate to say that gas giants are made of "frozen gas." Here's why:

    * Gas giants are primarily composed of hydrogen and helium, which are gases even at extremely low temperatures. They do contain other elements like methane, ammonia, and water, but these are present in much smaller quantities.

    * The interiors of gas giants are incredibly hot and under immense pressure. The pressure is so great that even though the outer layers are cold, the core is likely to be liquid or even metallic hydrogen.

So, while the outer layers of gas giants are cold enough to have frozen gases, the core is far from frozen. It's more accurate to say that gas giants are composed of gases that have been compressed to extreme densities, creating conditions unlike anything found on Earth.
