  • Boyle's Law: How Pressure and Volume Relate
    When the pressure on a gas is doubled, the volume is halved.

    This is based on Boyle's Law, which states that for a fixed amount of gas at a constant temperature, the pressure and volume are inversely proportional.

    Mathematically, this is represented as:

    P₁V₁ = P₂V₂

    Where:

    * P₁ = Initial pressure

    * V₁ = Initial volume

    * P₂ = Final pressure

    * V₂ = Final volume

    If P₂ = 2P₁ (pressure is doubled), then:

    P₁V₁ = 2P₁V₂

    V₂ = V₁ / 2
