  • Henry Moseley and the Modern Periodic Table: Atomic Number Explained
The person who organized the periodic table by atomic number was Henry Moseley.

Prior to Moseley's work in the early 20th century, Dmitri Mendeleev had arranged the elements by atomic weight, but there were some inconsistencies. Moseley used X-ray spectroscopy to determine the atomic number of each element, which he realized was a more fundamental property than atomic weight. This led to a more accurate and logical organization of the periodic table, which is the basis of the modern periodic table we use today.
