    The two main groups of minerals in food are:

    * Macrominerals: These are minerals that our bodies need in relatively large amounts, usually measured in grams. Examples include calcium, phosphorus, magnesium, sodium, potassium, chloride, and sulfur.

    * Microminerals (Trace Minerals): These are minerals that our bodies need in smaller amounts, usually measured in milligrams or even micrograms. Examples include iron, zinc, copper, manganese, iodine, selenium, fluoride, and chromium.
