When hydrogen peroxide (H2O2) comes into contact with a sore, it undergoes a chemical reaction. The H2O2 breaks down into water (H2O) and oxygen (O2). The oxygen released from the H2O2 helps to kill bacteria and other microorganisms on the sore, while the water helps to clean the wound. This process, known as oxidation, is a chemical change.
