  • Balancing Charges: How Potassium Ions Neutralize Sulfide Ions
Two potassium ions are needed to balance the charge of one sulfide ion.

A sulfide ion has a charge of -2, while a potassium ion has a charge of +1. In order to balance the charge of the sulfide ion, two potassium ions are required. This is because the total positive charge of the two potassium ions (+2) is equal to the negative charge of the sulfide ion (-2).
